« TV » – an experimental animated short film in stop motion (2025)
« TV » is an experimental animated short film that blends the art of stop-motion animation with hand-painted animation. Created entirely using Indian ink on a glass plate, this DIY animated film is a raw and dreamlike exploration of our complex relationship with television and media. Every frame of the animation was improvised during the creation process, bringing to life a unique visual narrative.
Based on a simple script, my film « TV » delves into the juxtaposition of horror and entertainment—showing how war, advertising, and entertainment often collide in the strange world of television. In my experimental short film, the protagonist consumes too much television and falls into a deep sleep, immersing the audience in a surreal, grainy, and raw visual experience.
The animation, painted by hand (check out my behind-the-scenes video), creates an eerie, dreamlike quality that transports viewers to a space where boundaries between reality and dream begin to blur. This indie animated film is for freaks of experimental cinema, stop-motion animation lovers, and those who appreciate the DIY filmmaking process.
